In Tales of Rebirth, two different races, Humas (humans) and Gajumas (beast-like people, similar to humans) exist alongside one another. One day, which was named "The Day of the Ladras' Fall", King Ladras Lindblum, a Gajuma, died due to an unknown cause, causing a rift between the two races.

In the village of Sulz is a man named Veigue Lungberg, who can control the power of ice. Due to a freak accident with his power, Claire Bennett, was frozen solid. After two years with no change, two people arrive at the town. They suggest for him to find a way to restore her, as well as get involved in the crisis caused by the rift in the races.
