It took me about 69 hours without doing hardly any sidequests. :o

Funny thing is, most of the dungeons seems significantly shorter and more streamlined than other Tales games, which is a good thing in a way. I suppose most of the time is eaten up from skits and the wild goose chase nature of the latter stages of the game. It seems like you actually spend little time playing and more time running errands. It's always "Let's go to this town and do this. Now let's go to this town and talk to this person." Repeat X10.

However, the ending is about perfect. It manages to wrap up everything without being too long winded. Plus I like the art style in the portraits shown during the credits. It's certainly a nice change of pace.

Overall, I think Symphonia is a bit better. Abyss is still a very good game though.
Yeah, I agree with you. Abyss kinda annoyed me 'cuz you're always going from town, to town, to town, then to an occasional dungeon, and then more towns.

It's a fun game though. I just can't get myself to beat it a fourth time because of that.
Yeah, I have to agree to that. Symphonia is my favorite RPG to date.
The only part I had to complain about Abyss was that there was so much traveling involved. If you wanted to get this gem, you had to talk to that guy in the farthest town away from you then get some ridiculous spice from this cave bring that to this item seller which is a loser who can't leave his town and he'll give you a box which will somehow get you a key from this random woman in a market etc etc.....

Now that was an exaggeration but that's what it felt like. But other than that, I really liked Abyss. But I'm having second thoughts of which Tales game is actually my most favorite. Symphonia is definitely a great game and much has improved since then with the way the other games were made. I just love them all xD;
I agree kaos knight; there is way too much errand running in this game. They should've streamlined that aspect of the game instead of the dungeons.
