Apparently, the team responsible for developing this particular installment in the Tales series have a thing for bats. I say that because there are approximately 700 variations of bats in the game. No joke. Every single dungeon has its own species of bat, usually of the element related to the dungeon.

Don't get me wrong, I think Tales of the Abyss is a great game, but couldn't they have been a little more creative with the monsters?
Maybe it's because many times they are the hardest to hit and we all know how game makers love to make the players' lives more difficult. xD;

But in all seriousness, I didn't realize this. But is it just this Tales game or all of them?

But I guess sometimes they want the monsters to fit with the scenery of that time... and bats seem to fit in a lot of places.
Tales is synonymous with pallet-swapped enemies. Not nearly as much as the Mana series, but close. :^.^:

Nuff said.

I noticed Phantasia and Symphonia have palette swapped enemies, which is fine as long as half the enemies aren't simply palette swaps of each other. However, it just seems like they went crazy with it in Abyss.
Tales of Legendia did this with the little bird things and those monsters that look like eggs. <_<; But at least they didn't just change the color for those, they actually added somethings or took them away. Watermelon Element ftw.

Yeah, the "joke" enemies were awesome. Espeically those really tall enemies that acted like old English gentlemen. :P
