Isn't Tales of the World some sort of spin off? How is it different from the regular Tales series? Anyone play any of these games? Are they any good?

From what I know, it's like the GBA TotW games, but in 3D (with voiceovers, etc.).
You can make your own character this time around (instead of having a predetermined male or female character), with different facial expressions, look, etc. And you get to include the popular Tales characters (only a selection are available, at least in the Japanese version).
The FR-LMBS from Tales of the Abyss is used, but with some tweaks (like you can't easily evade spells by Free Running this time around).
The US version tweaks are limited to new monster item drops, along with tweaks to the game's Mercenaries mode (since the WiFi Infrastructure mode for downloading/uploading characters is being removed).
One plus is that there will be no voice cuts this time around. :)

The storyline, which I hear isn't as good as ur average tales game, is that some demonic entity or sumthing is trying to conquer/destroy the world, and the mana trees, (similar to the karlan tree, but multiples,) summon/create a new hero to save the world. That would be YOU. You get to customize, etc. etc. Choose your own party and stuff, even though there are only about 14 pc's. Also, going through the game u can unlock extra classes, (i.e. Magic Swordsman, White Mage, etc. etc.,) by going through extra sidequests. I think the only bad thing is that its on a crappy system like the psp.

Even so...I'm glad that we're finally getting more Tales games. I'm still depressed about not getting Rebirth but hopefully this game will make up for it.
And it does sound great that you get to make up your own character in the Tales style and you get to see other characters from previous games and actually use them! I'm sorry but only getting to see them and have to fight them is alright...but I'd rather use the characters.
So yeah, I can't wait for it! ^^
