Some of you might have heard about this little incident. Essentially, litebrites powered by small batteries were placed around Boston. Someone calls it in because they "looked suspicious", and the city gets shut down because of a "bomb scare" (with the bomb squad and everything). As for who placed them there, it's in any of those news stories (a good majority, anyway), so I won't repeat it here.

Two things come to mind here...

  1. These things were in other major cities, and even in Boston for a few weeks before this incident. And yet no one had a problem with this elsewhere. >.>
  2. IMO, it doesn't take rocket science to tell that a f***ing lightbrite powered by small batteries isn't a freaking bomb.. God damn, what is our world coming to? Are we going to have someone call in a bomb scare because they see snow (general example) that wasn't there before, because Osama might be hiding in it? >.>

I'd be interested in hearing your views on this.
Sheesh... Though I can see why people would freak because of 9/11. I mean, a lot of people lost people...
I can understand being careful, but I don't see how someone could confuse it with a bomb. I caught the tail end of this when it first came on CNN (Randomly channel surfing). No offense but this is a prime example of idiots over reacting. I don't see why everyone in Boston over reacted.

True, but I think you need to use logic when you state something like that. If everyone freaked out like in Boston, then the terrorists could easily take advantage of that. Then the whole point of being cautious and telling the authorities is null and void.

Just because people can freak out shouldn't mean they can do it mindlessly, IMO.
people shouldnt freak out like that..
